Garden Gateway

Straddling an existing family garden fence line, this open-air structure serves as both gateway and guardian to the cultivated landscape beyond.

Originally conceived as practical storage for gardening equipment and supplies, it has evolved into something more meaningful—the third member of a family of accessory structures that dot the ranch like waypoints in a larger story.

The garden gateway maintains the ranch’s structural DNA through oil field pipe forming both superstructure and exoskeleton, wrapped in a corrugated metal skin. These materials, paired with a simple concrete slab, achieve remarkable lightness on the land while honoring the legacy of a multi-generational oil family. Here, the industrial heritage that built the ranch finds new purpose in nurturing the earth, creating a bridge between the family’s past and their commitment to the land’s future.
