Hearthside Home

Tucked beneath a mature canopy of twisting oaks in Alamo Heights, the Hearthside Home is rooted in respect for the landscape and a desire to engage more fully with its surroundings, bringing the home into dialogue with the trees, light, and neighborhood beyond.

The original structure was inward-facing, limiting its connection to the outdoors and the community. In response, a new glass pavilion reaches gently into the site, blurring the boundary between inside and out.

The glass-box addition creates an inviting threshold between home and street. A two-way fireplace anchors the space, sharing warmth both inside and out, and extending a quiet invitation to passersby.

Designed to feel like a screened porch, the addition embraces breezes, frames views, and creates space for everyday rituals to unfold in concert with nature and the community fabric.
